Frequently Asked Questions

What is a typical lesson like?

In a given lesson, your child will be exposed to at least 2 fine art media/ materials and concepts. Art techniques, topics and materials will be rotated between lessons to keep things fresh, even as we reinforce them throughout the term.

We start our lessons by introducing the theme/ topic to our students, for example, by telling a story to stimulate their interest.

He/ she will be guided to understand formal art theories through interactive teaching methods, such as games and custom-made teaching aids.

Next, we will explain the lesson’s objectives, converse with our students and ask for feedback. We will also use teaching aids such as visuals and games to further assist them in understanding the artistic concepts.

Depending on the nature of the lesson, our students may be grouped into teams to create a project. When it is time to create the artwork, the children will be guided step-by-step through the techniques.

When they have sufficient ability using a certain technique and have completed the lesson objectives, they will be allowed to include their own ideas for self-expression.

At the end of the class, they may even have an opportunity to present their artwork to their classmates. Being understood and recognised for their work helps them boost their confidence.

My younger child wants to join his/ her older sister and brother in a senior class. Is it possible?

Yes, younger students may join older ones if they have a similar level of ability.

If they do not, we may still accommodate them; however, an assistant teacher will have to be present and your understanding that they may not produce the same standards in their artwork as more advanced students.

Do I need to buy any materials?

No need, all materials are provided free of charge during lessons.

My child is slightly temperamental. Can he/she benefit from these classes?

Yes, in fact our lessons are recommended for temperamental children. They feel a need to be understood and through their art pieces, we can advice parents about their emotional state. Essentially, we can help them to overcome their communication barriers.
